About
VANESSA A. SIMMONS
VISIONARY | SPEAKER | BRAND STRATEGIST
As a 43-year first-generation Ghanaian-American woman of faith, I believe all things are possible in this life. I am a wife of 19 years and a work-from-homeschool mother of three children. Life has always been pretty busy, but lately I've learned to honor my rest and self-care.
I like watching the sun rise and set, snuggling during movies, walking our playful pitbull, and practicing judo and jiu-jitsu with my husband. Most of all, I love cooking delicious meals for our foodie family.
And of course, I love a good belly laugh.

200k+ ON SOCIAL PLATFORMS
Vanessa Simmons is a first-generation Ghanaian-American speaker, author, coach, and consultant who creates powerful media campaigns for global impact to communicate messages of legacy.
In 2014, mother and photographer, Vanessa Simmons, authored the Normalize Breastfeeding® movement to address the taboo of public breastfeeding in modern society. Her mission was to document diverse variations of normal infant feeding, across cultures and delivery methods of human milk.
Through Simmons' viral blog, her photographic speaking tour, philanthropy, and artistic inspiration; she mobilized and motivated thousands of women to share their breastfeeding photos on social media. After a very successful first year, she reached out to the Mayor of San Diego to proclaim the 1st International Day to Normalize Breastfeeding, in support of the worldwide anniversary event.
Certified Lactation Educator & Counselor, Vanessa Simmons, speaks at conferences about overcoming burnout on the journey as an advocate. On the Normalize Breastfeeding® podcast, she interviews guests about experiences, advocacy, and activism within the infant feeding community worldwide.
Vanessa helps emerging entrepreneurs manage work-life balance without burnout. She wrote the Amazon Bestselling book, “Latch the Gap: The Powerhouse Advocate's Guide to Help Black Parents Know Better & Do Better,” to professionals teaching families to advocate for themselves as they navigate the maternal health system. Her online courses help you focus on purpose, know your direction, and achieve your goals. If you're ready to launch, but you're stuck in the process of getting started, Vanessa can help you promote your business online, easily and authentically.
Vanessa Simmons specializes in helping business organizations, ready to resonate deeply with their audience, create powerful media campaigns for social impact. She resides with her loving husband of 19 years, their three homeschooled children, and their playful pitbull in San Diego, CA.
