Vanessa A. Simmons

Transformational Speaker, Leader, Liberator

I am Vanessa Simmons. I live in San Diego. I am a first-generation Ghanaian-American woman, wife, and mother of three children. I have a unique perspective because ever since I was a child I have experienced difficulty, yet still found a way to rise above it all. 9 years ago I dropped out of photography school when I got pregnant with my youngest son to pursue my dream of owning my own photography business, Candid Perspective Photography.

After 8 years of success in raising my price point per photo session from $100 as a family photographer to $15000 as a commercial portrait photographer in advertising, I hit rock bottom and realized that regardless of the money I was making, I wasn't walking in my purpose and I felt incredibly unfulfilled. When I began homeschooling my children the transition was so overwhelming that I started to experience panic attacks and waking up in cold sweats until I finally surrendered and decided to give attention to a higher calling in my life. My life was transformed as I began to carve out time for self-care, self-discovery, and self-appreciation in the early morning before my children were awake. This time alone allowed me to process my thoughts without being interrupted and realize my strength of accomplishing my goals even though I had many other priorities on my plate. However more than anything else, going inward and envisioning my livelihood, rather than being focused on what was manifesting around me in the physical realm, gave me the insight to walk in my truth and boldly choose to fulfill my purpose right now.

I have since become a transformational speaker and thought leader in the lactation field encouraging others to lean into their GIFT [greater intuitive field of thought]. Beyond the fame and celebrity status that we gain as an influencer of culture, there is so much more to be discovered about who we are, what we have to offer, and why we are here on this planet.

Most people don't know this about me, but I have been highly active my entire life from dancing ballet to playing basketball and even cheerleading. Six years ago, I started my martial arts training in judo and now I train jiu-jitsu with my husband and our three children.
